📝 Boosting Our Literacy Skills: Becoming Thoughtful Writers and Readers! Our Y2 students are working hard to level up their writing by learning how to join ideas together using connecting words like and, but, so, and because. They are discovering that while these longer sentences help their writing flow smoothly, each part of the sentence can often make sense all on its own! To make their stories more engaging for the reader, our learners are now using a mix of short and long sentences alongside very thoughtful word choices. They are also becoming "language detectives" by identifying descriptive words in the books they read, which helps them understand how authors add detail and meaning to a story. By noticing how professional writers use sentence structure and vibrant language to grab an audience's attention, our students are developing into insightful readers and creative writers! 🌟 #SchoolLiteracy #WritingSkills #YoungWriters #NSWPrimarySchools #LearningTogether"

Congratulations to our wonderful Stage Two students who celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation this week. ✝️ This is a very special step in their faith journey, as they learnt about God’s mercy, forgiveness and love. We are so proud of the reverence and thoughtfulness they showed as they received this sacrament. Thank you to our families, sacramental team and parish priests who supported and guided our students in preparing for this important moment. May God continue to bless our students as they grow in faith, hope and love. 🙏

In Year 4 , students responded to a song stimulus by composing a liturgical movement in small groups. As part of this creative process, they explored the themes and lyrics of the song and carefully considered how the music could guide their choreography choices. Students planned, practised and performed their liturgical movement with great rigour, focus and teamwork. The final performances were truly wonderful and a testament to their dedication, creativity and hard work. We are so proud of our Year 4 students! 👏

Step inside our Year 1 morning block, where the classroom is buzzing with word-detective energy! 🕵️‍♂️ From flying through independent reading to taming those tricky "Heart Words" and mastering every phoneme, we’re cracking the code in the most hands-on ways possible. Whether we’re huddled in small groups or writing, we’re turning "b-a-t" into "bat" and "magic" into "reading" one "AHA!" moment at a time! 🚀✨

Yesterday, our SRC leaders proudly represented Holy Spirit at the CSPD Big Water Walk in Parramatta. Joining over 600 students from 60 different schools, our leaders walked to raise awareness for communities facing water scarcity as part of this year’s Caritas Project Compassion initiative. A highlight of the day was the prayer service at St Patrick’s Cathedral, led by Bishop Vincent. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to put their faith into action and live out our Catholic Social Teachings. Our Year 3 students had an exciting time during the “Mad About Science – Living Things” incursion last Friday. 🔬🧪 During the session, they became young scientists, taking part in engaging, hands-on investigations. Students explored the differences between living and non-living things, examined a range of fascinating specimens, planted their own seeds and discovered how scientists classify and group living things. This engaging experience supported our science learning while sparking curiosity, discovery, and a growing love of science. Our Year 1 superstars have been busy moving and grooving this week! They’ve been working hard on their running and jumping skills as part of the ZING program. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they master: - Speedy Sprints: Finding their fastest pace. - Big Bounds: Learning how to land safely and jump further. - Active Fun: Developing coordination while burning off plenty of energy!
