Step inside our Year 1 morning block, where the classroom is buzzing with word-detective energy! 🕵️‍♂️ From flying through independent reading to taming those tricky "Heart Words" and mastering every phoneme, we’re cracking the code in the most hands-on ways possible. Whether we’re huddled in small groups or writing, we’re turning "b-a-t" into "bat" and "magic" into "reading" one "AHA!" moment at a time! 🚀✨

Yesterday, our SRC leaders proudly represented Holy Spirit at the CSPD Big Water Walk in Parramatta. Joining over 600 students from 60 different schools, our leaders walked to raise awareness for communities facing water scarcity as part of this year’s Caritas Project Compassion initiative. A highlight of the day was the prayer service at St Patrick’s Cathedral, led by Bishop Vincent. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to put their faith into action and live out our Catholic Social Teachings. Well done to our SRC! 💧💙 #faithinactioncspd #ProjectCompassion #bigwaterwalk

Our Year 3 students had an exciting time during the “Mad About Science – Living Things” incursion last Friday. 🔬🧪 During the session, they became young scientists, taking part in engaging, hands-on investigations. Students explored the differences between living and non-living things, examined a range of fascinating specimens, planted their own seeds and discovered how scientists classify and group living things. This engaging experience supported our science learning while sparking curiosity, discovery, and a growing love of science. What a fantastic learning experience! 🌱 For more photos see https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1E2JoFg6UuW3sJ_YHrTVnHyiLqtGuRewH?usp=drive_link

Our Year 1 superstars have been busy moving and grooving this week! They’ve been working hard on their running and jumping skills as part of the ZING program. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they master: - Speedy Sprints: Finding their fastest pace. - Big Bounds: Learning how to land safely and jump further. - Active Fun: Developing coordination while burning off plenty of energy! Check out those smiles! Our little athletes are definitely bringing the energy to the playground. #Year1 #Zing #ActiveKids #NSWPrimarySchools #HealthyKids"

Year 6 have been learning to use mono-printing techniques to create a unique artwork that explores the "likeness" of an object through light 🌅 and shadow. 🌄 They are experimenting with the use of ink to create their artworks. Students then experimented with stencil printmaking. Some created their own stencils while others used commercial stencils. They used sponges or paintbrushes to apply the paint using the stipple technique. They are enjoying learning new skills to create artworks.

🏡 Year 4 Persuasive Writing in Action! ✏️ Our Year 4 students have been learning how to use precise vocabulary to persuade and engage their audience. As part of their persuasive writing unit, students stepped into the role of real estate agents and created texts to “sell” homes using descriptive and powerful language. It was wonderful to see their creativity shine as they described spacious living areas, breathtaking views, and beautifully designed homes. Well done, Year 4, for using your words so effectively to persuade and inform! 👏📚

This week, our Year 3 students continued work on persuasive texts. For this task, students focused on the opinion: "Year 3 should be allowed to go on an excursion EVERY term". Students sorted reasons that connected to different arguments and justified their thinking. There was lots of rich discussion, collaboration and sharing of ideas as they explained their choices. 📚💬

Today our Year 5 students attended Parish Mass, celebrated by Father Peter. During the Mass, Father Peter reflected on the Gospel of Matthew, reminding us that God is merciful and ready to forgive. We were encouraged to always be ready to forgive those who hurt us. 💜 He quoted the gospel stating we must forgive one another 'not 7 times but 77 times'. Thank you to all of the families who were able to join us in prayer at mass today. 🙏

NAPLAN: What Parents Really Need to Know

Each March, families across Australia hear a lot about NAPLAN. The National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) assesses students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy. But what does it really mean for your child in 2026?
