Our amazing Year 1 students have been busy leveling up their addition skills this week! We’ve moved beyond counting everything from one. Now, our little mathematicians are mastering the "Counting On" strategy. Instead of starting at the beginning, they learn to identify the biggest number, lock it in their brains, and then count on the second collection to find the total. 🧠✨

Yesterday our Year 4 students attended their first Grade Parish Mass for 2026, beautifully celebrated by Father Saju. During the Mass, Father Saju reflected on the Gospel of Matthew, reminding us that our relationship with God is closely connected to how we relate to others. A heartfelt thank you to all the families who were able to join us in prayer and support our students.

In Maths, our Year 5 students have been taking their learning beyond the classroom to focus on the practical application of measurement. 📏 Their mission was to select the most effective tool to measure different parts of our playground. Students had to choose between a 30cm ruler, a trundle wheel, a metre ruler, and a measuring tape and then justify exactly why that tool was the right one for the job! Despite the rain, 🌧️ they had a fantastic time putting their skills to the test in the great outdoors.

The students in year 6 have been working hard during writing. ✏️ They are learning how to write an imaginative text that clearly communicates their ideas by weaving together simple, compound, and complex sentences to create a sophisticated narrative rhythm. By integrating adjectival phrases to define nouns and detailed adverbial phrases to explain precisely when, where, or how actions unfold, they paint vivid pictures for their audience. These young authors use precise vocabulary to capture the reader's imagination, always finishing their process by rereading and editing their work to ensure clear cohesion. Well done Year 6!

Year 2 had a wonderful time exploring Creation as a gift from God! They made beautiful connections to Psalm 66:5, “Come and see what God has done; he is awesome in his deeds among mortals,” and reflected on how we treat special gifts, recognising that Creation is something precious from God. Students proudly identified gifts from God around the school by tagging them with “A Gift from God” and were delighted to discover that each one of us is a gift from God too. We are so proud of the care, reverence and enthusiasm they showed throughout this meaningful learning experience.

Our Year 2 writers have been busy leveling up their work into Dazzling Descriptions this week! 🌟 The students are becoming grammar detectives, carefully selecting the best words to make their stories come to life. To help them see how their sentences are built, they have been color-coding two very important ingredients: 🔵 Nouns (Blue): Identifying the people, places, and things that their stories are all about. 🟣 Adjectives (Purple): Adding those all-important "sparkly" words to describe their nouns and make their writing pop! By focusing on these Dazzling Descriptions, our Year 2 stars are transforming simple ideas into vivid, detailed sentences. We are so impressed with the creative vocabulary being used in the classroom! #Year2 #DazzlingDescriptions #AdjectiveAdventure #NSWPrimary #YoungAuthors

Our Year 1 stars have been leveling up their literacy skills by crafting Super Sentences! To make their writing truly ""super,"" the students are becoming grammar detectives. They are learning how to build strong sentences by identifying the two most important ingredients: The ""Who"" or ""What"": Identifying Nouns and highlighting them in Blue. 🔵 The ""Action"": Identifying Verbs (what they are doing!) and highlighting them in Orange. 🟠 By color-coding their work, our young authors are ensuring every sentence tells a complete and exciting story. Check out some of their colorful masterpieces below! #Year1 #SuperSentences #LiteracyLinks #NSWPrimarySchools #GrammarGurus"

In English, year 5 have been learning how to compose persuasive texts. Students are writing texts to try to convince their teachers that 'Students should choose their own seats in class'. 🪑 Some of their reasons include the fact that they will be happier students, they will be more focussed on their learning and it will also teach them responsibility. 😀 They are experimenting with the use of both modal and emotive language in their writing to clearly present their arguments in the hope their teachers will share their opinion. Well done year 5.

Our Year 4 students gently reflected on the beautiful theme of hope as they prayerfully wrote their Lenten promises. Like a butterfly emerging and growing, they considered how small, intentional changes can lead to transformation. With open hearts, they chose meaningful ways to grow closer to God, show kindness to others, and make loving choices each day — trusting that even small acts can help them blossom into the people God calls them to be.

Today our school community gathered in prayer to mark Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the sacred season of Lent. Through reverent liturgies and Mass, our students, families and staff came together to receive ashes — a visible sign of our faith and a reminder of our desire to turn our hearts back to God. May this Lenten journey draw us closer to Christ and to one another, as we walk forward together in faith and hope. ✝️
