Gymnastics Fever Hits Holy Spirit
This term children from Holy Spirit have been involved in a gymnastics program run by the amazing DanceFever Multisport group, which has been partly subsidised by a Sporting Schools grant received by the school. Sporting Schools brings together schools and sports to help get Aussie children active in their local communities.
Each Tuesday a team of dynamic young trainers bring a wide variety of equipment to our school. They set up in our Cola and MPA and then proceed to run 7 sessions of gymnastics! The children are working on skills of jumping and landing, balance, rotation, locomotion and object manipulation and are absolutely loving the program!

🌟 Year 2 has been busy sequencing the Christmas Story! 🌟 Our amazing Year 2 readers listened carefully to the story of Jesus’ birth (Luke 2:1-20) and did a fantastic job putting all the events in the right order. From the census announcement right up to the shepherds praising God, they showed brilliant comprehension!

Students in Year 3 are learning to recognise that artists create art for a variety of reasons and that artworks can be interpreted in multiple ways. Using photography and the Canva website, students used iPads or Chromebooks to take photos of a classroom object, upload their images into a Canva drawing template, and create a repeating pattern featuring at least four repetitions of their chosen object.

✨ Year 4 RoboKids Incursion 🤖✨ Our Year 4 students had an exciting and hands-on learning experience during our RoboKids Incursion! Students explored coding, robotics, and problem-solving through engaging challenges that encouraged teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they programmed their robots to move, react, and complete tasks. 🌟 Year 6 Formation Day – A Journey of Hope and Light 🌟 Today our Year 6 students took part in a reflective and meaningful Formation Day as they prepare to graduate from Holy Spirit and step confidently into their high school journey. The day was filled with prayer, reflection, creativity and connection, led by our parish priests, REC and Y6 teaching team. Students participated in our parish Mass, walked the Labyrinth as a quiet practice of releasing worries and receiving God’s peace, and explored Scripture with the message “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14–16). They also used Biblical Micrography to reflect on how they can shine their gifts generously for others,. We are incredibly proud of the maturity, reverence and honesty shown throughout the day. May our Year 6 students continue to walk forward with courage, gratitude and hope. ✨💛

🌊 Under the Sea Adventure in the Imaginarium! 🐠 This week, kindy students took a very dramatic trip in our class Imaginarium! 🚀 We climbed aboard a pretend submarine, suited up in tight wet suits and big flippers, and plunged into the deep blue ocean for a scuba diving adventure! 🏊♀️ We met some amazing creatures down there—even running into a slippery sea snake and a massive shark (which we scared off by becoming sharks ourselves!). We ended the trip watching a graceful whale before swimming back to class. It was a fantastic lesson filled with imagination, drama, and lots of movement! In Health, Year 1 students explored how they could take responsibility for their own health, safety, and wellbeing, as well as that of others. They identified who influenced their decisions and actions to be healthy, safe, and physically active, and recalled people they could contact for support by creating their own personal support network.

Students have been using directions to create a range of tracks for the Bee-Bot. They then developed a navigational algorithm by applying mathematical knowledge of grid coordinates and precise movements (distance and direction). The final goal was to test and refine their code and course design, ensuring the robot successfully completed the programmed route and measured the distance traveled.

🧮✨ Exploring Geometry in Year 4! In Mathematics this week, our students took a deep dive into mapping skills. We learnt how to identify and mark locations on maps using grid references, and used directional language to describe routes around Gridville! 🗺️➡️ To put our skills into action, students even created their own towns by following specific coordinates. Such a fun and hands-on way to build spatial awareness and problem-solving skills! 🌟😊

Putting the 'Heft' into Hefty Learning! 💪📚 Year 2 is mastering the concept of mass! We started with the simple, sensory skill of hefting—using our sense of feel to compare objects and estimate which is heavier. Then, we moved on to the precision of scales to get exact measurements.
