Holy Spirit Kindergarten students, together with their teachers and helpers, recently visited Calmsley Hill City Farm as part of their Science unit. Here they were able to get up close to a range of native and farmyard animals.
The children were very excited about their visit to the farm.
Some of the children told us what they liked ...
I liked when we patted the animals and when we went on the tractor ride. I also liked when I volunteered to have a go using the whip. I felt a bit nervous but it was fantastic.

I liked when the dog rounded up the sheep. I also liked the tractor ride because we went down a big hill. I was a little bit scared but it was great fun.

I patted a rabbit and a chick and they felt really soft. When I milked the cow milk came out of the udder. I felt very excited to go to the farm.

🎨 Year 1 Art Adventure: 3D Art & Nature! 🌿 This week, our Year 1 artists explored 3D Art, Sculpture, and Photography, learning how 3D pieces are shaped to be viewed from all sides rather than staying flat on paper. We drew inspiration from First Nations artists like Lorraine Connelly-Northey, Yvonne Koolmatrie, and the Erub Arts collective, who weave and shape scavenged materials, sedge grass, and ghost nets into coolamons, woven animals, and marine life. We also looked at Andy Goldsworthy’s temporary nature sculptures captured through photography. Want to try a quick activity at home? Head into the garden with your child to gather leaves, twigs, and stones, build a 3D ground sculpture together, and snap a picture of their creation—feel free to share your photo in the comments below!

🤸 Year 4 had a wonderful time at Zing last Wednesday, developing the foundational skills of gymnastics! Students built their balance, coordination, strength, and confidence while challenging themselves and having lots of fun. We can't wait to see their skills continue to grow! 🌟

📚✨ Welcome Back to Term 3! ✨📚 Our school was buzzing with excitement today as we welcomed our students back for the first day of Term 3! It was wonderful to see smiling faces, hear holiday stories, and watch friendships reconnect as our classrooms came alive once again. We are looking forward to a term filled with learning, growth, faith and new opportunities for every student. As we begin this new term, we also embrace our 2026 school theme, "Belong to Something Greater." 🍕 Year 4 is Factoring in the Fun! 🌊 Our amazing Year 4 students have been diving deep into fractions this week! From slicing up model pizzas to using number lines, they've been working hard to master halves, quarters, and equivalent fractions. Our beautiful Year 2 students have been reflecting on what it means to be a disciple of Jesus by learning from the example of Mary. Through our discussions, students explored how Mary showed trust, courage, kindness, and faith in God’s plan. Inspired by Mary, we have been thinking about how we can care for our neighbours and help those in need in our everyday lives. Students shared thoughtful ideas about showing kindness, helping others, including everyone, and making positive choices at school and at home. By following Mary’s example, our amazing students are learning that being a disciple means saying “yes” to God, helping others, and living with love and compassion. We are very proud of the way they are growing as caring and faith-filled members of our community.

What a fantastic Pyjama Day at our school last Friday! 💤💙 It was wonderful to see our students and staff embracing the day, with many arriving in their favourite pyjamas and some even twinning with friends and teachers!
